Business Could Take A Lesson From The Marine Corps

As we move away from God and have the gall to question “Why is there a lack of morals” in all aspects of life particularly business, it made me think of who isn't sacrificing their values. The Marine Corps came to mind as doggedly defending their values.

That made me think of what makes them able to hold true to the those values. The biggest part is discipline. An example of that discipline is the rifleman's creed.

The results a Marine and his rifle can get are outstanding. Why? Because the Marine and his rifle are symbiotic with one single focus. That does not happen by chance. Every Marine must learn and recite the rifleman's creed until it becomes inextricably a part of who they are.

That symbiotic relationship between a Marine and his rifle is similar to the one that exists between the business owner and the customer. Yet the way some businesses step over their existing customers trying to get new ones, it's clear they don't fully understand their relationship with the customer. It's time the business owner had a creed.

And that is the thought process that brought about this, The Business Owner's Creed. It should be learned and recited until it becomes an inextricable part of who you are.

This is my customer. There are many like him, but this one is mine.
My customer is my best friend. He is my life. I must know him as well as I know myself.
