The best way to get reviews is simply to ask. Seek out your most loyal customers and ask them to leave a review on Google or Yelp.
It might be tempting to offer some sort of incentive, such as 10% off their next visit or purchase if they leave a review. Don’t do it! That violates the terms of every review site.
It only takes one slip of a customer’s keystrokes, “I’m just writing this to get the discount…” to reveal you’re bribing people for reviews. Reviews that are anything but genuine and uncompensated can get unwanted legal attention and heavy fines.
You need a way to ask for (and get) your customers to review your business online without the offer of any type of compensation or incentive. It’s not as impossible as you think!
Video Reviews
Another great way to get reviews is to keep a small video camera or just use your smart phone to record video reviews.
Then, just upload them to YouTube. Do a little SEO on these videos and they’ll show up on the first page of Google.
This is a very effective tactic for generating more leads and sales for your business.
